WELCOME

The main focus of our research interest is to understand structure- property relationship of various nanomaterials and modified surfaces. We synthesise various nanomaterials and nanocomposites and characterise them using a combination of spectroscopy, microscopy and electrochemical techniques. These nanomaterials are explored for their use in biosensors, fuel cells, photocatalytic water splitting and energy storage.

Dr. N. Sandhyarani, a Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, NIT Calicut, specializes in nanomaterials for clean energy and healthcare applications. After earning her Ph.D. under Prof. T. Pradeep at IIT Madras, she pursued post-doctoral research at the University of Notre Dame and Cornell University. Joining NIT Calicut in 2007, she became a Professor in 2018, with over 70 international publications and the supervision of 13 Ph.D. scholars (9 completed, 4 ongoing). Her research encompasses fuel cells, hydrogen evolution reactions, energy storage devices like supercapacitors, and biosensors for glucose, DNA, dopamine, and endotoxins. Notable accolades include the Dr. S. Vasudev Award (2020) and the SERB POWER Fellowship (2021).
